The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has sent requests to four countries to investigate the sabotage on the «Nord Stream» pipelines following a demand from State Duma deputies to look into the involvement of Western countries in terrorist attacks on Russian territory. The agency’s press service reported that requests were sent to the competent authorities of the United States, Germany, France, and Cyprus. The Prosecutor General’s Office intends to determine the involvement of citizens and structures of these states in organizing and financing the explosion of gas pipelines in September 2022.

On March 27, State Duma deputies sent a demand to the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia, Germany, Cyprus, the United States, and France for an immediate investigation and prevention of financing of terrorist attacks on Russian territory by Western countries. The deputies stated that they had presented «direct evidence of the initiators, organizers, perpetrators, cover-ups, and financiers of these heinous crimes». Among the examples of such attacks, deputies mentioned the explosion of the «Nord Stream» gas pipelines, the murder of journalist Daria Dugina and war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky, the explosion of a truck on the Crimean Bridge, and shelling in Belgorod.

On April 1, the Investigative Committee of Russia began a verification based on the parliamentarians' appeal. The explosions on the «Nord Stream» and «Nord Stream-2» gas pipelines occurred in September 2022. The investigation was conducted by Sweden and Denmark, where the damaged sections were located in their economic zones, as well as Germany. Stockholm and Copenhagen stated that the explosion was intentional. Later, the parties announced the cessation of the investigation, noting that they did not have jurisdiction to continue the investigation. The Kremlin called the decision to halt the investigation absurd. In February 2024, in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, Vladimir Putin accused the United States of sabotage.
