Russian servicemen Alexander Osipov and Alexander Kaigorodtsev, who were detained in connection with the murder of seven people in the Kherson region, have been transferred to military police, a source in the local police department told RBC. This information was confirmed by a source in the territorial department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The murders took place in the villages of Podo-Kalinovka and Abrikosovka in the Kherson region. According to sources cited by RBC, some of the bodies were discovered on April 24th, with gunshot wounds and burns, and some bodies were disfigured by fire. One of the victims, according to the police, was the head of the village administration, Lyubov Tymchak. A source from «RIA Novosti» stated that the detainees wanted to settle in Abrikosovka, but the village head informed them that there were no empty houses, after which they killed her. Kaigorodtsev had previously been convicted of drug possession and murder. In 2021, he was also convicted of theft, according to RBC sources. Both detainees have reportedly confessed to the murders.

Military personnel found casings, bullets, and a grenade ring in their possession. The casings found in Abrikosovka, according to sources, were from a Kalashnikov rifle. Kaigorodtsev had previously been convicted of drug possession and murder. In 2021, he was also convicted of theft, according to RBC sources. Both detainees have reportedly confessed to the murders. The discovery of ammunition and explosives in their possession has raised concerns about the involvement of military personnel in the heinous crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the full extent of the servicemen’s involvement in the murders. The case has shocked the local community and raised questions about the security and discipline within the Russian military.
