Water levels in Orenburg, Russia drop below critical mark, easing flood concerns

The water level in the Orenburg region of Russia has ceased to be dangerous, dropping to 888 centimeters, two centimeters below the critical mark. This information was reported by the regional Hydrometeorological Center, as cited by TASS.

Representatives of the Hydrometeorological Center explained that the water level in the Ural River near Orenburg is at 869 centimeters, 393 centimeters in Orsk, 888 centimeters in Ilek, and 792 centimeters in the Sakmara River near Tatarskaya Kargala. Specialists emphasized that the level of the Ural River along its entire length has dropped below the dangerous level.



Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the amount of compensation for those affected by the floods in Russia will need to be assessed and adjusted if necessary. The head of state instructed this to be done during a meeting on the elimination of flood consequences. Putin also mentioned that the Orenburg region faced the most challenging situation with the floods, affecting a total of 39 regions in the country.
