Russian citizens have been informed about an important aspect of working during holidays, as reported by «Gazeta.Ru» on April 30, 2024. According to lawyer Olga Lapina, if an employer insists on employees working during holidays without providing compensation, it is necessary to check the provisions in the labor or collective agreement regarding work processes during holidays. If there are no relevant provisions, the employer is violating labor legislation.

Lapina advised that before resorting to legal measures, it is recommended to try to resolve the issue through dialogue with the employer. It may be possible to reach a compromise or obtain lawful compensation. However, if the situation cannot be peacefully resolved and the employee is faced with dismissal, there is the option to challenge the employer’s decision in court. In such cases, it is important to adhere to a specific structure when filing a lawsuit, ensuring that all necessary arguments and demands are included.

Prior to filing a lawsuit, Lapina emphasized the importance of consulting with a lawyer or labor law specialist to ensure the correct drafting of the document and develop a sound strategy for protecting the employee’s rights. In the event of any violation of rights by the employer, it is advised to openly address the issue and take appropriate measures, the lawyer recommended.

The long weekends in Russia began on April 28 in celebration of May 1. The first May holidays will last from Sunday, April 28, to Wednesday, May 1. The second May holidays will span four days, from Thursday, May 9, to Sunday, May 12. Earlier reports indicated that from April 28 to May 1, Moscow parks will host a vibrant and engaging festive program, featuring concerts, sports competitions, dance lessons, and creative activities to entertain guests.
