Russian Air Defense System Neutralizes Ukrainian Drone Threat in Belgorod Region

In a recent incident in the Belgorod region of Russia, the country’s air defense system was activated to intercept and destroy a Ukrainian drone, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense. The incident occurred around 10:30 am Moscow time, when the military successfully neutralized an unmanned aerial vehicle of aircraft type that was attempting to attack targets on Russian territory. Further details about the incident were not disclosed by the Ministry of Defense.

Prior to this incident, the city of Belgorod had been warned about the potential threat of a drone attack, as reported by the city’s mayor. Additionally, overnight on May 2nd, drones belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted traction and transformer substations along the railway lines in the Oryol and Kursk regions. The attacks occurred around 11:00 pm at the Kursk stations of Ponyri and Svoboda, followed by the Zmiyovka-Glazunovka section near Oryol 15 minutes later.



According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 12 Ukrainian drones were shot down by air defense systems overnight. Five drones were intercepted over the Bryansk region, three over the Krasnodar Krai, two over the Rostov region, and one each over the Kursk and Belgorod regions. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in drone attacks and other military actions.
