Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded three teenagers with medals for their bravery during a terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow. The decree was published on the legal information portal, recognizing the students for their courageous actions in rescuing people in extreme conditions. Artem Donskov and Islam Khalilov, students at School No. 19 in Krasnogorsk, along with Nikita Ivanov, a student at the Moscow College of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, will receive the medals.

Donskov and Khalilov were working as cloakroom attendants at the Crocus City Hall and helped evacuate people through service exits during the terrorist attack. According to Khalilov, he evacuated around 100 people from the concert hall. Donskov mentioned that four to five cloakroom employees were involved in evacuating the audience. Fourteen-year-old Artem Filimonov, in an interview with RBC, stated that he coordinated people to help them leave the Crocus City Hall. Both teenagers received a letter of appreciation from Maria Lvov-Belova, the authorized representative for children’s rights under the President of Russia. Khalilov also received a medal for his merits from the spiritual leader of Muslims in Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

The Donskov family received a call from the President’s administration inquiring about their interest in meeting with Vladimir Putin. The recognition of these teenagers for their bravery and quick thinking during the attack highlights the importance of citizen involvement in times of crisis. The medals serve as a symbol of honor and gratitude for their selfless actions in saving lives during a traumatic event.
