Head of Chechnya’s Emergency Situations Ministry Appears in Public for the First Time Since Scandal

Alikhan Tsakaev, the head of the Emergency Situations Ministry in Chechnya, has made his first public appearance since the scandal involving his arrest. He was seen attending a meeting with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, with video footage of the meeting being shared on Kadyrov’s Telegram channel.

In the footage, Tsakaev can be seen among other Chechen officials at the meeting. Kadyrov mentioned the presence of the Emergency Situations Ministry leadership at the meeting, emphasizing the need for comprehensive training for their employees.

Tsakaev was detained on April 14 near the checkpoint «Gerzel» in the Novolaksky district. Kadyrov strongly criticized the actions of the security forces towards Tsakaev, calling it a provocation. He urged the leadership of Dagestan to investigate the incident and stated that those involved should be removed from their positions with a bang.

Dagestan’s leader, Sergey Melikov, called for avoiding provocations following Tsakaev’s arrest and expressed confidence that an objective assessment of the situation would be provided. On April 22, the Russian Interior Ministry revealed the results of the investigation into the incident involving Tsakaev. According to the department, the violator, whose name is not disclosed, was driving on the wrong side of the road, refused to provide documents to the officers, used foul language, and attempted to flee.
