Red Bull’s current holder of the Constructors' Cup has officially confirmed the early departure of technical director Adrian Newey, who created the most successful Formula 1 car. Newey will leave his post in the first quarter of 2025, as reported on the team’s website. Prior to his departure, Newey will focus on the final development of Red Bull’s first hypercar — the RB17. Newey has been with Red Bull since 2006 and is the mastermind behind the concept of all seven championship-winning cars of the team, including the RB19, which won 21 out of 22 races in 2023. Last week, Auto Motor und Sport reported that Newey will not be extending his contract with the team until the end.

The British engineer previously worked with Williams and McLaren, winning 12 Constructors' Cups with three different teams, and seven different drivers secured 13 championship wins in his cars. Red Bull is currently leading the Constructors' Cup this season, with a 44-point advantage over Ferrari. Red Bull’s driver Max Verstappen has won four out of the five races this season.

Newey’s departure marks the end of an era for Red Bull Racing, as he leaves behind a legacy of success and innovation in the world of Formula 1. His contributions to the team have been instrumental in their dominance in recent years, and his expertise will surely be missed. The team will now have to navigate the future without Newey’s guidance, as they continue to strive for excellence on the track.
